Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates – 16 June, 2022: Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre (ADPHC), the region’s first dedicated centre protecting the physical, mental and social wellbeing of Abu Dhabi’s population by raising public and preventative healthcare awareness, has announced that the 9th edition of the International Society for Physical Activity and Health Congress (ISPAH) will be taking place in Abu Dhabi from the 23rd to the 26th of October 2022 under the theme “Making Every Move Count”.
The ISPAH Congress is the largest physical activity and health congress in the world and ISPAH is widely recognised as the leading global society of researchers, experts and practitioners focused on promoting physical activity across the life course. With a shared vision of promoting an active, healthy society with opportunities for physical activity and an active life for all, the 9th Edition of the ISPAH Congress will bring together academics, practitioners, thought leaders and policy makers to discuss collaborative ways to promote the adoption of physical activity.
His Excellency, Matar Saeed Al Nuaimi, Director General of Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming to Abu Dhabi local, regional, and international experts and to facilitating valuable conversations that will create a positive impact on public health and promote physical activity. Our leadership’s vision towards a healthy and safe society is clear, and as Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre, we aim to raise awareness on the importance of physical activity in our daily lives, through this congress. We consider physical activity to be a key component complementing our preventative programs that target all segments of society, and we seek to exchange knowledge and research and explore opportunities for collaboration with local and international experts.”
Abstract submissions around interventions to create active societies, systems, environments, and people are currently being accepted for assessment ahead of the conference and will close on 19 June, 2022.
For his part, Professor Jasper Schipperijn, President of ISPAH, said: “We are delighted to bring the 9th ISPAH Congress to the emirate of Abu Dhabi! The Congress will enable Abu Dhabi to showcase the excellent work on improving levels of physical activity that is already happening at multiple levels in the city, country and region! Together with our host, Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre, we are organizing a congress that will not only be rich in science, innovation and creativity but also one that will have a positive impact on the society and leave a lasting legacy.”
The Congress program will consist of workshops, symposia, keynote speakers, parallel sessions, and posters, and will drive conversations on the role factors such as cultural and gender perceptions play in individuals being physically active.
