Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, April 6, 2023: Abu Dhabi Festival continues its 20-year celebration with the return of its Ramadan Spiritual Music Series. A place for both established and emerging artists, the series invites artists from around the world to celebrate the spiritual values that bring people together. The fourth edition presents two digital releases by renowned Egyptian spiritual chanter Sheikh Mahmoud El-Tohamy . 'Hymn of Passion” and 'The Carpenter's Daughters” will be aired on April 7th and 11th respectively at 10pm UAE timezone via the Festival's YouTube channel.
'Hymn of Passion' aims to present authentic Arabic poetry in a modern style while fusing Arabic and international music. The work highlights the beauty of spiritual music and the Arabic language. The performance will feature talented artists such as Hani Shenouda, Sheikh Abdel Rahim Dowidar, Mahmoud Helal, and Georgina Helmy, alongside 30 musicians.
The digital release of El-Tohamy’s 'The Carpenter's Daughters' will include several famous poems in praise of the Prophet Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, from Egypt, Sudan, Tunisia, and the countries of the Maghreb.
Abu Dhabi Festival has a longstanding history of collaboration with Sheikh Mahmoud El-Tohamy, the sheikh of Egyptian singers, who is known for his ability to mix chanting in classical Arabic with multiple musical cultures while preserving its originality and distinctive traditional character.
