Through advance BMT: Yas Clinic brings hope to one year old child without matched related doner

Abu Dhabi, UAE, 10th Feb, 2026: Yas Clinic - Khalifa City, in partnership with Abu Dhabi Stem Cells Center (ADSCC), continues to advance innovative pediatric cancer care through complex bone marrow transplant journey that has brought renewed hope to Arham, a one-year-old boy bravely fighting leukemia.

Arham was diagnosed at just four to five months of age with a rare and aggressive form of cancer known as infantile B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL), associated with a high-risk genetic mutation. After receiving initial chemotherapy at another hospital and achieving remission, he was referred to Yas Clinic for a bone marrow transplant, a critical step in his treatment journey.

With no matched sibling donor available, both parents were tested and found to be half-matched. Following careful evaluation, the medical team proceeded with the transplant using Arham’s father as the donor. The transplant was performed approximately six weeks ago, marking a significant milestone in his fight against the disease.

With advanced medical expertise, and close multidisciplinary monitoring, Arham has shown steady improvement and is now recovering well, with plans for discharge in the near future.

Dr. Mansi Sachdev, Pediatric Hematologist and Bone Marrow Transplant Specialist at Yas Clinic, said:

“Arham’s case reflects both the complexity and the promise of innovative bone marrow transplant care. Despite facing serious complications, his recovery reminds us why advanced medicine, vigilance, and perseverance matter. What stands out just as much as the science is the incredible strength of his parents.”

Beyond the medical complexity, Arham’s journey has been marked by extraordinary parental devotion. His mother remained constantly by his side throughout long, exhausting days and nights in the hospital, while his father offered unwavering support during a period when only one parent was allowed to stay with their child. Their resilience, patience, and quiet strength became an inspiration to the entire care team.

Commenting on the case, Dr. Maysoon Al Karam, Chief Medical Officer at Yas Clinic - Khalifa City, said:

“This successful matched unrelated donor bone marrow transplant in a child reflects our team’s clinical excellence and unwavering commitment to delivering advanced, lifesaving care. It marks a significant milestone in expanding complex pediatric transplant services while maintaining the highest standards of safety and outcomes”.

Arham’s progress highlights Yas Clinic’s commitment to advanced pediatric bone marrow transplantation, driven by innovation, clinical excellence, and a deeply patient-centered approach. While the road to healing remains long, his recovery so far offers genuine hope — for his family and for many others facing similar battles.

At Yas Clinic, every small step forward is a victory — and every child’s courage is met with care, science, and heart.
